Andy, a handsome upcoming hip hop music artist striving for stardom with determination and tenacity encounters struggles as he markets his new CDs. Mama Ejiro has to self-reflect after an encounter with Councilor’s wife in the market. Parents of 2 year Tsav appear not to be managing the symptoms of malaria right.
Councilor Tajudeen’s children pose a nuisance on Newman Street. Tsav’s malaria condition becomes serious, complications set in, he is rushed to the hospital but eventually dies. Malaria is a killer; signs and symptoms must be taken seriously and treated promptly. Malaria is not common or ordinary.
Andy continues in his struggle to fame, borrows money but is in a fix as his creditors are after him, his grandma is unable to help him. Andy shares his musical career frustrations with funke who expresses deep concern. Teacher Chongo and wife are deeply mournful over Tsav’s death from Malaria. This result in disaffection, blame and suspicion in a relatively happy family. Councillor Tajudeen’s home exhibits some continuous disagreements amongst the children (Funke his only daughter from his first wife and KK). The realities of “Life as it is”, plays out as the Ejiros express diverging expectations and dreams of a better future for the family. However anxiety sets in as it relates to suspected pregnancy she is not prepared for. John Atta grapples with a deal gone sour, he takes responsibility, but is obviously troubled.
Andy’s quest for stardom and strong desire to excel in his musical career leaves him with the choice of siding up with Caroline. Can she really take his career to the next level? The loan shark (KK) is dissatisfied by Andy’s part refund. Mama Ejiro’s aspiration of being a big time fashion designer seems to be unveiling. Dr Sophie expresses her frustrations to Dr. Baba at the turn of events on Newman Street after Tsav’s death. Spousal communication exhibited by the Attas: Victoria confirms not being pregnant after a doctor visit, stops using the pills and adopts a long lasting FP method (IUD).
Mama Ejiro exhibits anxiety about the likelihood of an unplanned pregnancy, by inspecting her stomach in front of the mirror. But her dilemma is solved when she sees her period. She dances for joy. Dr Sophie calls at Kirot’s house, poses an explanation about Tsav’s malaria condition and expresses the need for prompt and immediate action at the onset of signs and symptoms. Chaos erupts in Councilor’s house at the exhibition of favoritism with Funke over KK and his brothers. Andy’s frustration mounts significantly as he gets successive rejections from producers. The matriarch of the Atta family still adamant at her desire of a male heir. She expresses same to Victoria who politely but firmly explains their stand.
Mama Ejiro shares her problems with a friend, who advised her to use Family Planning. Mama Ejiro liked this idea but was not comfortable buying it from Oga Pius shop, even when accompanied by her friend. However, she bought it and tried to pitch the idea to Cho cho, this caused commotion. Mama advises Kirot to go for ANC at the local clinic but Chongo is not happy with that idea because the clinic brings back sad memories of the son they lost. Funke is very optimistic about Andy’s musical career. John Atta encounters some obstacles in his business. Lady Attah presses for a male child.
Andy‘s concert which was organized by Funke at Madam Labembe’s bar went well, however Andy still owes KK some money. Caroline isn’t very happy about Andy’s performance at the bar, she thinks it’s not the type of exposure he needs. Chongo, who also performed with Andy at the bar, narrates his experience to Kirot, she tries to talk to him about the local ANC, but he refuses. John makes a business deal that goes wrong. Mama Ejiro’s uncles arrive unannounced.
Papa Ejiro drives Johns car to a shady neighborhood to seek solace with Anne, as they return from lunch, they can’t find Johns car. They ask the people around, but they are ignored, this infuriates Papa Ejiro and he interferes with their game causing a big fight where he is injured. He goes to the office without the car, John is upset with him. Mama Ejiro’s uncles who had heard about her FP idea were disappointed in her and asked her to pack her things and go home with them. She pleads with them and explains her reasons, but the uncles leave, disappointed. KK’s brothers steal from Mama and are pursued but are protected by KK. Kirot goes for ANC and Dr Sophie is glad to see her. Chongo tells Andy of his music in the past.
Mama Ejiro asks Papa Ejiro about his leg, but instead he narrates a false story, she doesn’t believe him. Lady Atta invites John for dinner and brings up the topic of male children, John makes his stance clear, and then she informs him of the trust fund. Mama is worried about Andy and asks him to visit the clinic; he’s convinced it’s his music career stressing him out. Akpos and Amerika arrive uninvited and add more tension to the already stressed household. Dooshima isn’t getting better, Kirot is very worried.
Dooshima’s temperature is still very high; Kirot eventually had to take her to the clinic. Akpos and Amerika are enjoying city life around town. Andy and Caroline have heated argument over the progress of his music career. Andy still has headaches. Chocho is tired of his brothers so he asks Mama Ejiro to stop giving them food.
Dooshima is diagnosed with malaria; Dr Sophie treats her with ACT malaria drug. Andy talks to Funke about his ambitions; to his surprise he gets a breakthrough. Akpos and Amerika caught by Mama Ejiro sneaking girls out of the house. She sees them as irresponsible boys. Meanwhile at Seabreeze, Usman introduces an external agent with vast experience.
Kirot finally puts up her mosquito net. Andy is excited about his music career and is celebrated as a rising star at Madam Labembe’s. Chocho can’t wait to send his brothers home, he goes around looking for money. John is really hoping for a breakthrough at work, he talks to Victoria about it.
Papa Ejiro finally agrees to FP as Mama Ejiro makes him see reasons for it. Andy begins production and promotion of his music. Papa Ejiro was able to get some money to send his brothers home. KK harasses Madam Labembe at her bar, this infuriates her and she goes to report to Councilor. Dooshima is healthy and Kirot was able to convince Chongo to use the mosquito net even though he complained about the heat.
